Trifle

Mini_Rasberry_Trifle

The Old Spaghetti Factory

image3

This is a spaghetti restaurant located in Stockton.

I went here couple days ago. It is good and beautiful so I went to share with you guys.

image6

When you get your table they will serve this bread first. I’m not a fan of this bread, but my friend liked it. It is very hard outside, but the inside is very soft.  But this bread eventually worked with me. It is perfect to eat with the next dish.

image4

(Veggie Soup)

This soup is a little bit salty for me, but it is very good. It is very good to pairs with the bread. I and my friend finished it immediately.

image5

(Salad)

This salad and the soup are both part of the combo So if you ordered the pasta, they will have this salad and soup comes with it together.

image9

(Sicilian Garlic Cheese Bread)

This one is my favorite! It is very delicious. The bread was very soft and the melted cheese is perfect! The other half was cheese with potato. The sauce is tasty and please try this dish!

image7

(Orange Cream Shake)

For drinks, I ordered this milkshake. The sweetness was good so I think it is worth to try.

image10

(White Clam Sauce)

Finally the main course. I ordered this Spaghetti and it was nothing surprised me. The flavor was fine, it just the normal clam sauce.

image8

(Pot Pourri)

This dish was very special it has four different sauce. This one is worth to order because you can taste different flavor at the same time.

Foodie Diary: Ready For The Winter Meal?

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

The weather is getting colder every day, so I wonder what is the best meal for a cold day?

Today I’m going to introduce a good meal for winter.

Shabu Japanese Fondue

image1
This is a Japanese hot pot restaurant.
In Japanese the hot pot called”shabu”.
Since I have recommended Chinese hot pot in my previous post.
Today I’ll introduce the Japanese shabu.
image7
(Veggies)
Before we start our shabu, I’d love to talk about we can get on our combo. I ordered, “all you can eat” combo, because it is best for me and my friend. In this combo we can get veggies, mushrooms, tofu and udon noodles.
image4
(Dipping Sauce)
The have two kinds of sauce, the darker one is sour sauce and the yellow one this sweet and sour sauce. I like the yellow one better but let me tell you something. It is always best to eat shabu without sauce. The meat or veggies will be very juicy and fresh.
image2
(Meats)
In this combo, you can get all the meats you want but I recommended lamb. I think they are the best for shabu.
image6
(Soup)
You can choose two kinds of soup, I chose soy soup and spicy miso soup. I love spicy miso soup! It tastes very good and please try!
image5
(Sushi)
The do have another dish beside shabu, if you think the shabu is not enough then you can try some sushi.
image8
(Ice Cream)
In this combo, you also can get one spoon of ice cream. I love green tea ice cream so I chose this one.
image1(1) image9
(Inside of Shabu Japanese Fondue)
This is definitely a good place to hangout and the price is reasonable. I love their decoration and every clean inside of the restaurant. Their service was not what I expected. The were every slow and keep me and my friend waiting so long. However, the shabu was delirious, so it all worth it.

Foodie Diary: Tai Wen special?

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

Today I want to introduce a Taiwan restaurant that located at Fremont.

Grand Harbor

image8

This restaurant is actually very far away, but I do not recommend to drive all the way there.

I will recommend you to stop by only when you at San Jose.

In this restaurant they have a lot of Taiwan food, their snacks are very good.

image6

(Black Tea)

Before you order anything, just let you know that if you are ordering a combo or a hot pot they come up with a drink. Either black tea or green tea. It contains a bit sweetness and it is cold and perfect for the hot pot.

image1

(Sizzling Noodle)

This noodle combo is amazing and I love the sauce on the top. The plate is very hot so be careful when they serving this dish. I’d love to mix the egg with the noodle, it is very creamy. You can also order sizzling lamb chop, and it is also my favorite.

image2

(Deep Fired Stinky Tofu)

This is a very special dish. These tofu’s smell are actually very bad but when you taste it you will find out it actually really good. But I still going to remain you that if you have never tried any stinky food before, do not have too much hope on this one. Because you might hate it.

image3

(Popcorn Chicken)

This one is highly recommended!! Just order it! This is not about how much people love fried food, this is about the flavor. This popcorn chicken is very juicy and I think they have some extra secret seasoning for this dish. Just order it!

image7 image9

(Inside of Grand Harbor)

This restaurant is a good place to go and also have a lot of dishes that wait for us to try. It is a small place but very clean and crowd. They owner was very nice to me and the service was perfect. Stop by when you around Fremont.

Foodie Diary: Oh, YES! Tacos!

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

Here is a good restaurant for Mexican food! Let’s get start it!

El Torito

image1

Up to now, this is the very first official Mexican restaurant I have ever been.

I tried tacos before, but it all came from the fast food restaurant.

My friend had her birthday dinner here, it was awesome!

image9

(Corn Chips)

Before you ready to order anything, the waiter would bring some corn chips. These corn chips still maintain a little bit heat. It is very delicious. My friend and I almost finished one bucket of these. No kidding!

image7

(Menu of El Torito)

If you don’t know what you want to order you can get some help from the menu! Do you see that little black bull in front of the dish’s names? It indicates that dish is chef recommended. You can simply choose one from it.

image11

(Tacos Jalisco)

I ordered this dish because it was chef recommended! The melting cheese on the top and the juicy beef inside, it was perfect! I definitely love it. It contains a little spicy flavor, I’m sure you guys would love it too.

image13

(Sizzling Combo)

My friend ordered this one. I tried the shrimp. It was juicy. My friend loves this one and she recommended me to order this dish next time.

image12

(Side dish)

I think all the tacos come with this side dish. It was also tasty.

image4 image5

(Inside of El Torito)

I’m not a big fan of Mexican food, but this restaurant was good. It was worth it. The food here was good and the service was perfect. The waiters all very nice. I love the decoration of this restaurant. It was also very clean.

Foodie Diary: Thai !

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

Today is Thai food day! I’m going to take you to my favorite Thai restaurant!

Siamese Street Thai Restaurant

image4

This restaurant is actually very close to UOP, it’s on pacific ave.

It’s a walking distance and it’s about 5 minutes.

This is the first Thai restaurant I went when I came to UOP.

It actually really good, a lot of students love this place.

image1 (1)

(Thai Tea)

I ordered Thai tea for drinks and this is my favorite. I always order this one. It’s absolutely tasty, but I think this Thai tea have too much sweetener. If you like it very sweet it will be fine, but recently I order the less sweetener one. I think that one is better for the meal. If the drinks are very sweet, it will make you feel greasiness down your throat. Because Thai food is almost all spicy and I don’t want that greasiness feelings after I eat them.

image6

(Veggie rolls)

These veggie rolls are very delicious. The sweet and sour sauce in the center very balance the taste of the rolls. I recommend this dish for your appetizer.

image2

(Seafood curry)

This is a dish that I ordered at the very first time I got in this restaurant. It was juicy and tasty. I love the spiciness. The shrimp was very fresh. Please try this one!

image3

(Pad Thai)

This dish is amazing! They have the little nut chips inside. Mix the nuts before you eat and it tastes so good! I personally don’t like nuts that much, but with this dish the nuts become the necessary ingredient!

image5

(Mango Sticky Rice)

Yes! We’ll definitely have the mango sticky rice for dessert! This is one of my favorite. I love the sticky rice. Sometimes the mango could be very sour, just for the record.

image7

(Fried Banana With Coconut Ice Cream)

I don’t really like this one because the banana was very oily. And the flavor was not that I expect for.

image8image9

(Inside of Siamese Street Thai Restaurant)

A quick tip about this restaurant is you should be careful about the time that you want to visit. They open during 11 am to 3 pm. And they will open at 5 pm. There was one time that I got there around 4 pm and the restaurant is not open for business yet.

Foodie Diary: Korean BBQ

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

Today, I’m going to introduce a very fancy Korean BBQ.

I accidentally discovered this restaurant.

Gen Korean BBQ House

image9 (1)

This BBQ house is unexpectedly popular!

I and my friends were just driving around and try to find a place to eat.

My friend said: How about we eat BBQ?

So we went in this BBQ house, and that was 4 pm.

A lot of people are already waiting for a table.

After we finished, it is about 6 pm. And this picture shows the waiting line.

Can you believe it?

image13

Okay, so let’s talk about why this restaurant is so popular. First step, drinks.

image11

(Strawberry lemonade )

I ordered strawberry lemonade for the drinks. They are just normal tasty, nothing draws my attention.

image2

(Grill)

The little dishes around the grill are included in the combo. This Korean BBQ is all you can eat. I think this is the first reason why they are so popular. The Kimchi in these little dishes is very delicious.

image6 (1)

(Beef)

In the dinner course, you can choose four kinds of meat. I choose the Beef Bulgogi, Gen Premium Steak, Nook Gan Sal and Garlic Chicken.

image3

(Menu of Gen Korean BBQ House )

If you can’t decide which one you want to eat, you can order their recommended meat. I ordered the recommended course Garlic Chicken and it was very juicy!image15

An interesting thing about this restaurant is their waiters are all very handsome. 😉 Also their waitress are very cute!

My friend think this is might be the other reason why this restaurant is so popular!

image16

image17

(Inside of the Gen Korean BBQ House)

This is a very good place to hang out. Their combo is very bargain. The decoration is pretty.  I will definitely go back there! (Not because of the handsome waiters!) And sorry for disappointed you guys, I don’t have any pictures of their waiters or waitress. I guess you guys have to find out by yourself!

Foodie Diary: Seafood time!

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

In the past few post, I have never talked about seafood.

So today, I’m going to introduce a seafood restaurant.

Red Lobster

image6

Red lobster is a popular seafood restaurant for locals.

The first I get there I didn’t get a chance to try because there were so many people.

Last week I went there at 3 pm and I still wait about 10 minutes. Can you believe it?

image7

(Biscuit)

As soon as you seat at your table, they will give you a basket of this biscuit. This biscuits are very soft and good for soup. So a good choice is you can order soup and enjoy it together.

image1

(Sunset Passion Colada)

This drink is very sweet  and it is malibu rum pina colada with strawberry, raspberry or peach topper. You can order a non-alcohol one. Very tasty and good for kids.

image2(Seaside Shrimp Trio)

Let’s take look our first dish! At the side of the plate is fried shrimp, is very juicy and fresh inside. In the middle is garlic shrimp, this one is kind of my favorite. The last one is shrimp pasta. Too much shrimp at one time! But is delicious and worth to try!

image3

(Wood-Grilled Lobster, Shrimp and Salmon)

I love this dish is because of the salmon. This salmon was well grilled and very juicy. The skin very crisp. The lobster was fine, but they add too much salt on it, I don’t really like it.

image4

(Warm Chocolate Chip Lava Cookie)

For the dessert, I ordered this lava cookie. The molten lava is not expertly melting. It seems the server are in a rush and the ice cream has an empty hole in the middle. This is really disappointed me.

Lobsterfest-Menu-Red-Lobster

(Menu of Red Lobster)

They have so many dishes that I’m interesting to try. My friend recommends me mussel marinara. I probably try it next time. 😉

image9image10

(Inside of the Red Lobster)

This restaurant is a good place to go but sometimes they just can’t provide you they best server they have. Because they have too many customer to take care of. You always have to wait in line to get a table. This restaurant is not worth to wait more than 20 minutes. Overall, I might give them a second chance, but I don’t take too much expectancy with it.

My evaluation: ★★★☆

Foodie Diary: Spicy Special

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

I went to San Francisco again for fall break.

A spicy food lover like me discovered a wonderful restaurant for you guys.

Hunan House

image14

This is a Chinese restaurant locates in Chinatown.

This is a very good place for spicy food.

The half of the dishes in menu come with red pepper.

image1

(Chicken Palms w/ Explosive Peppers)

This dish is my favorite, the chicken is very juicy! It comes with these red peppers. Very delicious and the spice with just right. Not too much but still hot. Make sure you order the spicy chicken palms because the spicy food is their selling point.

image7

(Menu of Hunan House)

The have lots kinds of dishes, but like I said the spicy food this their selling point. Some people worried about the food will be too spicy, but actually it won’t. Just order it and trust me you’ll love it! 😉

image6

(Beef Short Rib In Hot & Numbing Spicy Pot)

This one is also my favorite! The beef short rib is so tasty! Inside this pot, it has tofu, bamboo shoot, beef short rib and root of a lotus. Is a big pot and good for serving two people or more.

image11

(GuiLing Rice Noodle)

This dish has light spice in it but still tasty. The soup is very good and even better than some noodle restaurant. Worth to try!

image13 image12

(Inside of the Hunan House)

This place is the only restaurant in Chinatown that I like the most. They are always crowded even during the late night. Some people order friend rich or chow main, if you do the same you’ll really missing out! The spicy food is their specialty, so please order spicy food!

Foodie Diary: Check Out The Chinese Hot Pot!

Hi, visitors! I’m Victoria Bao, your chef and gastronome.

I went to San Francisco last week with my friends.

It was a long drive and, of course, I have the new restaurant for you guys. :)

Old Mandarin Islamic Restaurant

image6

This is a Chinese Muslim restaurant locates in San Francisco.

They have a special menu for us, which is hot pot.

Some people might not know anything about Chinese hot pot.

It is a casserole of meat and vegetables, and you can choose the base soup.

I like the spicy soup, so I choose the spicy one.

image1

(Spicy Hot Pot)

As you can see, this hot pot is separated into two sides. If you want to try different flavors, they can change one of the soup. I choose the spicy soup for both sides. The main point of the hot pot is you can add what you want to eat. You can add meats or vegetables and noodles! It’s eating and cooking at same time.;)

image5

(Menu of Old Mandarin Islamic Restaurant)

Have you ever try Beijing style noodle? It is Chinese noodle with fried dark bean sauce on the top. It is very delicious. In China, we call it: “Zha Jiang Mian”.

image3

(Beijing Style Noodle)

In their restaurant, this noodle was a surprise for me. I ordered this dish in other restaurants before, but none of them are the real Chinese style “Zha Jiang Mian”. But this restaurant did a great job and we enjoyed it.

image4

(Beijing Beef Pancake)

This dish is also highly recommended. The beef was fragrant and well seasoned while the pancake was tasty.

image1

(Inside of the Old Mandarin Islamic Restaurant)

I’d say this is a good place to go. Is hard to find a Chinese restaurant in United States which really cook Chinese food. Some restaurants changed their recipes for locals, but this restaurant stayed with the real Chinese style. This place is small but very clean. The food is good, so you guys should try it.
